Afghan censors to target Taliban

Shocking images of deformed babies born in Afghanistan since the US-led invasion have been displayed on the Taliban's website to support accusations that the American army has illegaly used depleted uranium weapons in the country - which US authorities have denied.

That is just one way the Taliban has used the internet for propaganda in its information war against the Afghan government and foreign troops.

But now Afghan authorities say they plan to censor the Taliban website, which they claim "promotes terrorism and glorifies violence".
