About this video

EAGLESHAM.

Mary MacInnes, 74, one of 25 women from Eaglesham Knitting and Crochet Club who have knitted and crocheted 15,000 poppies to decorate Eaglesham Parish Church, Eaglesham, Scotland.

The poppies are made of hard wearing and weather proof acrylic and have been laid in the garden of 16th Kirkstile Cottage with the church in the background.
Mary has been doing crochet for over 60 years and like other ladies in the group can make a poppy in around 7 minutes.
Each member spends about 4 weeks making poppies in run up to Remembrance Day. The display includes purples poppies dedicated to animals who died in conflicts and white poppies for Peace and medics. The display also plays tribute to Private Peter Gemmell, who lived in the village and died in WW1 and has a tree planted in Eaglesham in his honour.

Wool and pattern supplied delighted and picked up.
