NU beats Ateneo in overtime

National University overcame Ateneo de Manila in overtime, 71-66, in the UAAP Season 88 men's basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025. Paul Franciso fired 10 of 13 total points in the extra period as the Bulldogs weathered the Blue Eagles fightback to rise to 6-1. NU seized its third straight win and clinched the top seed after the first round. Jadem Lazo racked up 17 markers for Ateneo which fell to its third straight loss and dropped to 4-3 for fourth place.
