Azalina Proposes Limiting PM’s Term to 2 Terms & Reviews Political Financing Bill 🏛️

The proposal to cap the Prime Minister’s tenure at two terms or a maximum of 10 years, along with the draft political financing bill, is still under review and undergoing consultation with political parties, says Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform), Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.

Speaking to reporters at the Prime Minister’s Department Aidilfitri event on Monday (April 21), attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Azalina said both laws, if enacted, would also apply at the state level.

She added that her office is currently in discussions with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Election Commission (EC) regarding the proposed political financing legislation.
