About this video
India’s third unmanned lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3, is “on schedule”, the Indian Space Research Organisation said after “successfully” performing the third orbit-raising manoeuvre and increasing the altitude of the spacecraft. The next firing is planned for July 20, 2023, between 2 and 3 pm IST,” the ISRO said in an update yesterday evening. After the yesterday’s firing, the spacecraft has attained a 51400 km x 228 km orbit, as planned, the ISRO added. The first and second orbit-raising manoeuvres were conducted on Saturday and Monday by scientists at ISRO. The third orbit-raising maneuver was performed when the spacecraft was at its farthest point in the elliptical orbit. The Earth-bound perigee firing conducted from the Isro mission control in Bengaluru ensured that the spacecraft is in a tighter loop around the planet. To achieve the precise altitude required to escape Earth's gravitational pull and embark on its journey toward the Moon, the Indian space agency will perform three more earth-Bound manoeuvres.
