An orphan who all have forgotten, timid and withdrawn, Henri looks after the lamps and lighting in the convent where he has lived since a young age. One day he is forced to leave the protective sanctuary where he was raised and he suddenly finds himself thrown into an unfamiliar world. His candid innocence carries him along and he tries to light up the lives of people who, like himself, feel isolated. Above all, he wants to light the flame in the heart of Hélène, the beautiful clerk, who lives in a dark world without light, with whom he's secretly in love.
