Spectacular footage has emerged of an unusual 'launch cone' effect from a rocket launch in the skies over Florida, US on Friday.

The video, captured by a local resident, shows the amazing visual phenomena that the filmer described as "very very cool".

He can be heard saying "that is so amazing" as he watches the Atlas V satellite-carrying rocket fly overhead.
