Dramatic Narration #2

I think my worst road trip I ever had was probably the time I was riding with my girlfriend (at the time) up to Illinois to visit her college. We both grew up and went to school in Missouri, so the trip up North wasn't terribly dreadful. Plus, driving with your SO makes things far easier when driving six or seven hours North. Our relationship had some flaws, but what relationship doesn't? We chatted, made some jokes, and did the usual things that most couples would do for a while on the road. I think we were about halfway to our destination when my gf does this awkward pause for a good minute and finally turns to me and admits to not only sleeping with her cousin, but also getting knocked up by him. Apparently when you take a trip to Oklahoma with your family to visit relatives, it's perfectly fine to hump your cousin to be rebellious against your parents even if you're in a relationship. I was pretty taken back by this and felt like yelling like some crazy homeless person at first (no offense, homeless redditors), but despite this news, I kept relatively calm afterwards and began wondering what should do. Do I just drop her off right in the middle of the road? Should I turn around a drive back? I ended up sticking it through and continue our little road trip to her college. I really couldn't think of anything better than leaving her alone in her dorm knowing she'll have to give up her $22,000 scholarship and drop out from college to take care of her cousin's baby. After what seemed like eternity of awkward silence, we eventually made it to her college and she unloaded some of her bags without saying a word. I could tell she wanted to try saying something to justify herself, but it's pretty hard to justify cheating. By the time she was finished, she walked to the drive side door and stood there waiting for me to say something. The last thing I said to her before driving off was, "have fun." I'm not sure if what I did was right, but I really didn't feel too nice when she tried justifying what she did and then get mad at me for not wanting to take care of someone else's kid. In end, she did end up dropping out and messaged me that it was god "giving her a sign" that she wasn't going back. Make no doubt, I don't think I facepalmed any harder than that day.
