Sixteen years after his viral United Breaks Guitars trilogy shook the aviation industry & changed the way corporations think about customer service, Canadian singer-songwriter Dave Carroll is back with another musical message for the airline world. His new single & music video, Don’t Fly Wizzness Class, shines a spotlight on the experience of Sukhrob Ubaydullaev, a 26-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan who was denied boarding by Wizz Air under troubling circumstances in 2023.
Ubaydullaev & 3 unrelated Uzbek passengers were prevented from boarding the first leg of their return flight home from Rome, setting off a 2 week ordeal for the gentleman, marked by financial & emotional hardship. Each of the denied travellers were reportedly asked to confirm their nationality before being refused boarding, raising serious questions about discriminatory treatment & overbooking practices. Wizz Air declined to provide an explanation & never reimbursed the cost of Ubaydullaev’s unused ticket.
“This airline is not well known in North America, but they aren’t small. They have more planes than Air Canada,” said Carroll. “It appears to me that this man was indifferenced by Wizz Air because it was determined that a young man from a developing country, outside the EU, wouldn’t have a loud enough voice to stand up for himself. It’s been my pleasure to get to know Sukhrob and learn about his country. Together, I’m hoping our voices will carry his story far & wide. The song & video are fun & well-crafted, so I think if people watch it, they’ll be happy to share it. Together, many voices can be very loud.”
Don’t Fly Wizzness Class blends Carroll’s trademark humor, storytelling & musical craftsmanship with a serious message about corporate accountability & fairness in global travel. The video marks the first time since 2009 that Carroll has used his platform to champion the rights of air passengers through song.
The project also reflects a growing international collaboration: a Canadian musician known for sparking industry change, joining forces with a young Uzbek traveller determined to be heard. The video aims not only to entertain but also to encourage transparency & empathy within the airline industry.

LYRICS:
Sukhrob Ubaydullaev,
Another David fighting Goliath.
I’d like to share a little tale of his,
About a certain airline
That they call WIZZ.
I know a guy,
Sukhrob is his name.
He bought a ticket on a WIZZ airplane.
He’s from Uzbekistan,
A kind and friendly man,
Departing Rome for Samarkand.
He showed his documents and they were fine,
The ones he’d used to fly around a million times.
Gee WIZZ, you’re pickin’ on the Uzbeks.
Denied their boarding,
But you kept his cash.
Gee WIZZ, show a little respect.
Do what you promise —
Is that a lot to ask?
‘Cause everyone regrets
Flying Wizzness Class.
Wizz wouldn’t compensate
They left him all alone
It took him two weeks
To get home from Rome.
He slept on Turkish streets,
Too low on dough to eat.
The airline ghosted
His emails and tweets.
He paid a price,
For nothing wrong.
Still the nightmare went on
and on,and on, and on.
Gee WIZZ, you’re pickin’ on the Uzbeks.
Denied their boarding,
But you kept his cash.
Gee WIZZ, show a little respect.
Do what you promise —
Is that a lot to ask?
‘Cause everyone regrets
Flying Wizzness Class.
If you buy
An ultra-super low-cost ticket on a Wizz Air flight,
It can get a little pricey
When they randomly
Kick you off
And leave you in a pickle
In the middle of the night,
And they don’t refund your money
Their bar of excellence is on the floor,
But they give you even less than you bargained for.
You buy a ticket,
The die is cast.
You’re gonna leave thirsty
With an empty glass.
But that’s the Wizz Air Promise
In Wizzness Class.
Gee WIZZ, you’re pickin’ on the Uzbeks.
Denied their boarding,
But you kept his cash.
Gee WIZZ, show a little respect.
Do what you promise
Is that a lot to ask?
‘Cause everyone regrets
Flying Wizzness Class
