WWII Rifle Sling Innovations: Enhancing Military Gear 🪖

Although P37 and 1907 straps were the most common straps utilized for rifles during World War Two, these rifles did not always meet the needs of Allied Forces. In particular, canvas straps would disintegrate within the hot humid jungles of Burma and other battlefields of the Pacific Theatre. One way that Common Wealth and American Soldiers got around this issue was by utilizing basic rope. Rope was ubiquitous, cheap, easily adjustable, and it was also more quite than the issued straps. Funny enough, during the Vietnam War, the utilization of rope rifle slings would become fairly common practice for Special Operations, because of what was learned in the field during WW2.
