emono dine -In this day (By Sraboni Sen)

Emono dine is a love song written and composed by Rabindranath Tagore very probably for his life long obsession Kadambari Debi.He tries to communicate his love for this long departed soul in a rainy,stormy day. But this is a universal song and in this case sung by rabindra sangeet maestro Sraboni Sen who is a woman.I therefore deliberately changed the object of love from "her" to "he" so that it suits the gender.There are small mistakes in transliteration for which I apologise to all. I tried to find a reasonably good translation of the lyrics of the song but in vain.Better known translators like Ketaki Kushari Dyson and William Radice were unavailable for this small translation. So I took a very bold step and did a simple prose translation of the lyric which I hope will convey the spirit of the song to non bengali speaking public. Animesh Lahiri
