It ran for 14 episodes on Fox (though three episodes never aired), premiering on September 20, 2002. The series was concluded in 2005 with the feature film Serenity (not to be confused with the hilariously bad 2019 Matthew McConaughey film of the same name). Starring Nathan Fillion as Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds, Gina Torres as Zoe Alleyne Washburne, Alan Tudyk as Hoban "Wash" Washburne, Morena Baccarin as Inara Serra, Adam Baldwin as Jayne Cobb, Jewel Staite as Kaylee Frye, Sean Maher as Simon Tam, Summer Glau as River Tam, Ron Glass as Shepherd Derrial Book, Mark Sheppard as Badger, Michael Fairman as Adelai Niska, Christina Hendricks as Yolanda / Saffron / Bridget, David Krumholtz as Mr. Universe, Sarah Paulson as Dr. Caron and Chiwetel Ejiofor as The Operative.
