On Thursday 12th December 2013, 70 years after Flowers created the first Colossus machine, his legacy as a telecommunications pioneer and creator of the first programmable electronic computer was honoured with a memorial commissioned by BT, the global communications services company. The life size bronze memorial bust, designed by James Butler MBE RA FRBS, was unveiled by Trevor Baylis OBE at Adastral Park, BT's research and development centre in Martlesham Heath, near Ipswich, Sussex.
